MOJO – The Ultimate TMJ Health Appliance for Children

The MOJO for Children Appliance or MOJO Mini as it is often affectionately referred to is a general purpose Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) health appliance for the oral cavity (mouth) and related muscles for children aged between 6-12 years.

At first appearance it may resemble a sporting mouth guard but its design is much more sophisticated as once in position it encourages activity of the myriad of muscles around the mouth, neck and head.

These groups of muscles are the facial muscles including lips, the tongue, the hyoid muscles, the chewing and swallowing muscles and general muscles of the neck.

It is also fair to assume that eye muscle function will improve as a consequence of better integration of the previous groups.

As the MOJO for Children promotes ongoing activity and therefore strengthening of the muscles mentioned, proper development of the jaw and teeth is an anticipated consequence. Furthermore speech development and improved postural development are additional anticipated outcomes.

So many children suffer from poor development and alignment of the jaw and/or crowding and protruding teeth because of environmental or lifestyle issues and muscle pathology may be a leading root cause.

Other causative factors may include thumb or finger sucking, diets that contain insufficient micro-nutrients, diets that contain too much sugar, excessive usage of electronic equipment such as phones, pads and computers and emotional stress either at home or in school.

If any symptom that your child has persists or if you are uncertain about the benefits of using the MOJO Appliance always remember to consult your doctor, dentist or duly licensed health care practitioner.
